Connections North


CONNECTIONS NORTH is a community of practice devoted to the professional use of wargames (and other serious games) for education, training, and policy analysis in Canada. It is open to professional game designers, military and other government personnel, researchers, NGOs, and others associated with professional (war)gaming.

If you would like to join the electronic group, contact Rex Brynen (McGill University/PAXsims), including a few lines describing your background and professional interest.

CONNECTIONS NORTH also hosts an annual conference, usually at McGill University in mid-February, on professional wargaming, conflict simulation, and serious games. Reports from past meetings can be found as follows:


The Connections North 2020 conference will be held at McGill University in Montreal on Saturday, 15 February.

Conference panels will address:

  • An update on serious (war)gaming in Canada
  • Refining wargame methodologies
  • Gaming civilians in conflict
  • Expanding the community

There will also be a keynote address by Dr. Yuna Wong (RAND), as well as game demonstrations.
